The Rands & Cents - My accessories

Hey! I now have a bike, Now What??

I need to ride this machine but I must have the proper gear, accessories, and tools. I mentioned in the previous chapter, how expensive cycling is. It’s the mistake that many people make, thinking that cycling is all about the bike but as you will soon find out, it's not… The bike is an integral part of it all because you need to move, however also it is ‘how’ you move that’s makes it a real pleasure.

So, I ensured not to be derailed early, I need to organise proper accessories to make my journey a pleasant one.

I got the following accessories for my ‘Oshkosh’

o   Pedals with cleats.
o   Front and rear spot lights
o   Bottle cage
o   Small Pump
o   Floor pump
o   Toolbox, for minor repairs

Bicycling shoes

Water & Accessories bag

Helmet, Gloves & Sunglasses

Then a big chunk of money was spent on gear and accessories

o   Helmet
o   Cycling shoes
o   Gloves
o   Gear
o   Sunglasses
o   Bag-pack

I have spent a lot of money on my machine and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever because I love this sport, this hobby and it makes me totally in control of my life.

Since this is an expensive sport, my advice to friends it that they should save for it. Don’t use a credit card, don’t take a loan or get into massive debt because of this. This is just for fun! Yes, it has some awesome benefits but not big enough for you to get into debt for.

In this regard, Buy CASH!! Cash is king. Please!!

I love this journey, I planned it thus I saved for it. I got a friend to sponsor me since she saw how committed I was to this sport but all the accessories were bought for cash.

My advice, save for your passion. Cut out unnecessary stuff in you life so you can save up enough to purchase your dream machine.

Since the fire burning inside of me was stronger, the rand & cents spent on my journey thus far makes perfect sense to me. I got this…

Lets Ride!!
